Early Music Missouri presents: Invasive Species in Baroque Music
Early Music Missouri presents: a concert of Spanish, Italian and English music from the 16th and 17th centuries.
Performed by a trio of soprano, early guitars & lutes, the recital examines the important musical exchanges between various countries and cultures in the Renaissance & Baroque eras. These influences include the impact of Moorish music on Renaissance Spain and the influence of New World musics on Italian and Spanish musical culture in the 17th century.
Performers are soprano Samantha Arten, guitarist Patrick Rafferty and lutenist Jeffrey Noonan. Rafferty and Noonan will perform on reproductions of instruments from these earlier centuries including both Renaissance & Baroque guitars, vihuela, lutes and theorbo.
An ideal space for intimate chamber music, the MOCRA gallery has limited seating and a spectacular sound for acoustic instruments. Admission is $20 at the door with reduced rates for students.
Early Music Missouri is the foremost presenter and promoter of Early Music performance in the region, offering eight concerts of Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music each season. Performance specialists play reproductions of or actual historical instruments from the periods.
