In May: On Campus Conversations with educators, students and innovators taking a fresh look at whatÂ¹s happening, and whatÂ¹s working, from grade school to grad school. Monday, May 11: Here's a startling proposition: kill the university as we know it. Abolish tenure, get rid of compartmentalized academic departments, 86 the traditional dissertation. Tonight's guest, Dr. Mark C. Taylor of Columbia University, says our current college/university system isn't serving anyone well and it's time to rethink our whole approach. (His recent New York Times op-ed on the topic started a lively discussion, as you might imagine.) We'll chat with him tonight and hear more, as well as ask for his response to the flood of criticism he's come in for.

STL Expatriates are up to some interesting stuff, we're finding out: tonight we're joined on the line from Argentina by Mei-Ling Hopgood, former Post-Dispatch reporter and now author of the new memoir "Lucky Girl," exploring the circumstances (unbeknownst to her until adulthood) of her adoption from Taiwan and the realities and mysteries of family her story exemplifies.
