Mountains spin together acoustic guitars, digital fuzz and ambience found in nature to create a painterly, abstract sound that alternatively suggests Explosions in the Sky (who they have remixed ) recorded in high definition, super-slow motion or a voiceless José González filtered through a Brian Eno soundscape. Despite the swells of static and atmospheric crackles, the overall effect of Mountains, as heard on their most recent release Choral, is serene, like a wide-open, summer sky. They performed at the Open Lot on April 21, 2009.
