KDHX Media Arts hosts several timed filmmaking competitions throughoutthe year. Filmmaking teams come together and have only a short time toproduce a movie from scratch. The finished films are eligible forawards and cash prizes and the winners are screened theatrically insome of the world's leading film festivals. The Saint Louis 48 Hour Film Project (June 2011)

Every June, KDHX hosts the St. Louis 48Hour Film Project. Filmmakers have 48 hours to write, shoot and edit a short film and the results are screened at the Tivoli Theatre. Take part in what is being called a rite of passage for St. Louis filmmakers! Registration is now open for 2010. Buy DVDs of previous winners in our e-store.

The National Film Challenge (Next Event: October 22-25, 2010)

The National Film Challenge (NFC) is a collaboration between KDHX Community Media and thecreators of the 48 Hour Film Project. The Premise: Participating teams from around the world havejust one weekend to write, shoot and edit a short film or video. Tomakethings interesting, each team is given a genre for its film, and acharacter, prop and line of dialogue that must appear in each team'smovie.  The International Documentary Challenge (Next Event: March 2011)

The International Documentary Challenge is a timed filmmakingcompetition where filmmaking teams from around the world have just 5days tomake a short documentary film. The next Doc Challenge takes place on March 2011 with the finalists premiering in May at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival in Toronto.
