| 88.1 KDHX : Independent Music Plays Here |
|
In an era where 90% of all media is controlled by six corporations, people benefit greatly from locally focused news and talk programs and a diversity of music. We are the only local alternative. KDHX radio is produced by your friends and neighbors--locally connected, locally produced, locally focused. KDHX also collaborates with local nonprofits and businesses to produce music concerts, festivals, media arts activities, speaker series and workshops. As KDHX moves into its third decade of broadcasting it does so with a schedule that is staffed by community volunteers who bring their knowledge, talent and passion to the listeners. The current weekly line-up includes 79 individual long-form shows and more than 30 individual short-form shows, along with a regular rotation of public service announcements and underwriting produced weekly by more than 200 individuals. The KDHX studios are located in the heart of Saint Louis City in an urban residential area. The transmitter is located eleven air miles to the southwest in rural Jefferson County. KDHX owns its own tower and transmitter facility. The tower is 600 feet tall and sits on a 600 foot ridge, an excellent location that enables the station to transmit a strong, clear signal to its entire coverage area.
