About Us

kdhx-community-media.gif The Double Helix Corporation was founded by a group of local, community concerned people who wanted to bring media access to the Saint Louis region. Double Helix's roots are in the operation of commercial-free KDNA-FM radio and the Double Helix Media Center. KDNA-FM served the Saint Louis area during the late 1960s and early 1970s, and the Double Helix Media Center was a storefront video production company and training facility. In many ways, KDNA-FM and Double Helix created early models for community media stations which have developed throughout the nation over the last three decades.

KDHX 88.1 FM is a non-commercial, listener supported community radio station offering a full spectrum of music along with cultural and public affairs programming. KDHX is a 42,000 watt stereo station broadcasting 24 hours a day, seven days a week, within an 80-mile radius of Saint Louis, Missouri, USA.

KDHX is licensed to the Double Helix Corporation, a non-profit organization which is governed by a 14-member Board of Directors elected by its contributors and volunteers. The corporation is independent of any governmental entity and is not affiliated with any religious or education organization. The KDHX offices and studios are located at 3504 Magnolia in the Tower Grove East neighborhood; its tower is located in Jefferson County just south of St. Louis.

KDHX TV, The Double Helix Corporation's Community Access Television operation, has been providing community and public access to cable television in the City of Saint Louis for more than 20 years. Just as programming on KDHX is produced and supported by a large base of volunteers and a small staff, so too is the programming on KDHX TV channel 21. In addition to locally produced programming, KDHX TV airs news and public affairs programs that offer information from a perspective that is typically underrepresented in the mainstream media. KDHX TV also operates Public Access channel 22, which allows virtually unrestricted access to residents of the City of Saint Louis.

KDHX's board of directors meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm  at 625 N. Euclid, Suite 100, St. Louis MO 63108. The KDHX Program Committee meets the 3rd Wednesay of each month at 5:15 pm at the same location.
