Poetry at the Point - January 23

POETRY AT THE POINT on January 23 will feature feature Walter Bargen, Andrea Jackson, and Katherine Mitchell. Poetry at the Point is held at THE FOCAL POINT in Maplewood on the 4th Tuesday of the month. This reading series invites local and regional poets, and established and up-and-coming poets to share their words. The event is free.

The Focal Point is at 2720 Sutton.  Parking is free in the lot on nearby Marietta Avenue or street parking. Readings start at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments available at the Maya Cafe next door. WALTER BARGEN has published 19 books of poetry. Recent books include Days Like This Are Necessary: New & Selected Poems (2009), Endearing Ruins/Liebenswerte Ruinen (2012), Trouble Behind Glass Doors (2013), Quixotic (2014), and Gone West/Ganz im Westen (2014). His latest book Too Quick for the Living was published in November 2017. He was appointed the first poet laureate of Missouri (2008-2009).

ANDREA JACKSON’s poetry and fiction have appeared in Star 82 (*82) Review, Gyroscope Review, Eyedrum Periodically, Heron Tree, The Tishman Review, and The Apple Valley Review. She has an MFA from the University of Missouri–St. Louis. She has just published Who Am I and Where Is Home? An American Woman in 1931 Palestine.

KATHERINE MITCHELL’s poetry appears in 2River View, The Southern Review, and was nominated for Best New Poets 2016. Katherine holds an MFA in Creative Writing from University of Missouri–St. Louis. She’s an Alexander Technique teacher and teaches movement for writers workshops across the country.
