Advances in the Conceptualization and Measurement of Race-Related Stress
Shawn Utsey is a Professor of Counseling Psychology and Interim Chair of the African American Studies Department at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Utsey’s research interests are primarily in two areas, both of which are related to the psychology of the African American experience. First, he is interested in understanding how race-related stress impacts the psychological and physiological health of African Americans. His other area of interest is the role of culture in coping and resilience among African Americans.
